UIndy’s Institute for Civic Leadership & Mayoral Archives is offering a FREE two-day intensive workshop on July 13 and 14, 2015 for Indiana high school teachers.  The workshop focuses on the unique archival materials relating to the history of modern Indianapolis.  The workshop will be held on UIndy’s campus and led by Institute Director and Professor of History Ted Frantz in conjunction with Leah Nahmias, Director of Programs for Indiana Humanities.

Participants will focus on strategies for tying local history to national themes, with a particular focus on employing primary sources in the classroom.  Material related to Indianapolis’ civil rights movement, urban America, and Unigov reforms of the 1960s/1970s will receive the most attention.

Because of content and theme, the ideal participant will teach 11th or 12th grade social studies; space is limited and preference will be given to those who teach in Marion County.

Upon completion of the two-day workshop participants will receive 14 hours of continuing education credits and a $100 stipend.

Space is limited; register to reserve your spot today!

Queries should be directed via email to Ted Frantz, efrantz@uindy.edu
